Partnership with the KWbN: Avond4daagse medals

Walking gets people moving. It brings generations together, encourages a healthy lifestyle and creates lasting memories. The Royal Dutch Walking Association (KWBN) and PROM’ES have been working together since 2026. PROM’ES supports the KWBN in the development, production and delivery of the Avond4daagse medals.

KWbN

The Royal Dutch Walking Association (KWBN) is the largest walking organisation in the Netherlands. The association believes that walking contributes to a healthier and happier life and aims to get as many people as possible active. To this end, the KWBN focuses on inspiring, motivating, supporting and connecting people.

The Avond4-daagse

Through the Avond4daagse, the KWbN aims to encourage as many children as possible to take part in the walk and to offer them an unforgettable experience, generation after generation. The association supports over 600 local Avond4daagse organisations throughout the Netherlands in the areas of promotion, safety, organisation, online registration, medals, legal matters and insurance. This takes as much of the burden off the organisations and volunteers as possible.

The avond4daagse is gaining in popularity

The Avond4daagse continues to grow. In 2025, over 500,000 children took part at more than 500 venues across the Netherlands. This represents a 9.1% increase in the number of Avond4daagse events compared with 2024. This growth shows that walking is thriving: more and more clubs, parents and volunteers are taking on the organisation of the event. Not only as a healthy activity, but also as a way to bring the local community together.

The Avond4daagse medal range

The KWbN and PROM’ES have jointly expanded the range of Avond4daagse medals: a new medal series and eco-friendly medals. At the same time, the familiar range remains available: the classic medal series.

[QUOTE] “Many organisers and children are happy with the current medal series, so that will remain as it is. The expansion mainly involves offering additional options, without compromising on quality or service.”

Gijs Janssen, Managing Director of KWbN

Gamme de médailles existante

Existing medal series

The classic medal series consists of numbers one to ten. It is a series of silver commemorative medals. Only numbers five and ten (anniversary years) are gold. This classic medal series has been part of the KWbN’s trusted range for many years and remains available to organisers who prefer continuity.

De nouvelles médailles

New medals with higher reward levels

The new series of medals also comprises numbers one to ten. These medals feature a UV print, making the Avond4daagse logo visible in colour. Number one is bronze, number two is silver and the remaining numbers are gold. In addition, this series offers the option of adding numbers from eleven onwards using so-called medal inserts. With this new medal series, organisers therefore have the opportunity to offer participants who have been taking part for many years a fitting reward.

Médailles journalières écoresponsables

Eco day medals

Participants have the option of taking part in the Avond4daagse for just one evening. They receive a fitting reward for this: the so-called ‘day medal’. The KWbN has chosen to produce the day medal from eco-friendly materials. The medal is made from potato starch and comes with an R-PET lanyard. Manufactured in Europe.

Médailles pour les 4 jours de marche des tout-petits

Medals for the Toddler and Pre-school 4-Day Walk

The medals have also been further developed specifically for the Toddler and Pre-school 4-Day Walk. For these activities too, the eco-friendly potato starch medal has been chosen. Not only is the design fully tailored to this young target group, but safety has also been taken into account. For example, the neck ribbon is fitted with a special safety clip, so that young children cannot hurt themselves whilst playing.

Customised medals (in development)

We are currently working on customised medals for the long term. This will enable organisers to tailor their medals more closely to the local character of their Avond4daagse event. It gives them greater freedom of choice, whilst maintaining the quality and reliability of the medals on offer.
